A HEARTY MEAL for the BRAINS

There is definitely something intriguing and magnetic about this 5½ x 8¼ inches petite shaped MAG. It has been following my family for a couple of generations and this magazine was introduced to me when I started to be literate at a young age. My dad especially, who has quite a fair amount of general knowledge in him encourages and urges me still to read and absorb as much information as i could process and save in my brain. Reading this magazine needs time to slowly Digest and Comprehend the context in it, which is why the founders, DeWitt Wallace and Lila Bell Wallace decided to name the Magazine READER'S DIGEST.

There were so much further knowledge gained when i started subscribing and reading it. Below are the few examples of information which i would never have known if it wasn't for this magazine.

BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS*

People usually think brain damaging is all caused by mental illness or the radiation in technologies nowadays. But honestly, bad daily life habits are the ones which actually cause brain damaging to us.

 Example:

1. *Without Breakfast
*People who do not eat breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar

level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain
causing brain degeneration.
2. *Overeating
*It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental
power.

3. *Smoking
*It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. *High Sugar consumption
*Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients

causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. *Air Pollution
*The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our 20 body. Inhaling polluted

air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, causing brain cells to die or be damaged.

WHEN TO EAT FRUITS FOR OPTIMUM EFFECT

We all think eating fruits meant by just buying a fruit, cutting it up and popping it into our mouths and let our stomach and intestine do the rest of the job for us. It's not that easy. It's important to know how and when to eat fruits.

The correct way of eating fruits is when you should consume fruits with an empty stomach. Why say so? Eating fruits plays a major role in detoxifying your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss, and to provide roughage for a good bowel movement. Eating fruits after a meal however, the food you've had in your stomach will start to ferment and by adding fruits in it will not only disturb the digestion of the meal but eventually clogs and rots the whole mass of food in your tummy.  Fruit mixes with other putrefying food produces gas. Hence, you feel gassy in your stomach and get bloated up!

Eating a whole fruit is way better than drinking just the juice. If you have to drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit-fast to cleanse your body. Eat fruits and drink fruit juices for just 3 days, and you will be surprised when your friends say how radiant you look!

For all teenagers who love cold beverages out there!! Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer!

Can u believe this? For those who can't live a day without icy cold water, this applies to you. Yeah, I know, It feels so good to have a nice soothing cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify and coagulate all the lipids that you've just consumed, which slows down digestion eventually. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid in our stomach, it will be broken down and absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will then begin to line the intestine walls and very soon, this will all turn into fats, which will lead to colon cancer.. So, It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a good hearty meal
